FAQ

Where is the Pine Belt?

PBH serves the Pine Belt region of Mississippi, including Forrest, Lamar, Jones, Covington, Greene, Jefferson Davis, Marion, Perry, and Wayne counties.

If you live outside the Pine Belt, you're still more than welcome to join us. We believe community isn't defined by city or county lines, and we're happy to welcome anyone who shares our values or is interested in learning more about humanism.

Is Pine Belt Humanists affiliated with any other groups?

Yes! Pine Belt Humanists is a chapter of the American Humanist Association, a nonprofit group advocating progressive values and equality for humanists, atheists, and freethinkers.

The mission of the AHA is to advance humanism, an ethical and life-affirming philosophy free of belief in any gods or other supernatural forces. Advocating for the equality of nontheists and a society guided by reason, empathy, and a growing knowledge of the natural world, the AHA promotes a worldview that encourages individuals to live informed and meaningful lives that aspire to the greater good.

Pine Belt Humanists is also an affiliate of American Atheists, a group working to build a better America — where atheists and nonreligious people can participate fully, without discrimination or stigma, and where all people are guaranteed equality.
