Providing Hygiene Kits to Local Students

Results

What started as a goal to provide 100 hygiene kits to local students became something so much bigger.

Thanks to generous donations from our members and community, a $400 grant from the American Humanist Association, and the hard work of our volunteers, Pine Belt Humanists assembled 400 hygiene kits for students across five area campuses.

For many, basic hygiene products are easy to take for granted. But for families facing financial hardship, items like toothpaste, deodorant, soap, and lotion can be difficult to keep stocked. For students, having access to these everyday necessities can mean greater comfort, confidence, dignity, and readiness to participate in school.

Each kit included essential personal care items along with a few extras like motivational stickers and mints. These kits give educators the resources to discreetly provide students with necessities when they need them most.

This project showed what our community can accomplish when we come together to meet a real need, turning an initial goal of 100 kits into care and comfort for 400 local students.
